Recent storms have us all on edge here in Stone Harbor and Avalon but recent projections show the storm doing some strange things south of us and possibly not impacting us at all.

“THROWN FOR A LOOP…LITERALLY: BIG SHIFT IN MATTHEW’S FORECAST IN THE LAST 24 HOURS IS GOOD NEWS FOR SOUTH JERSEY

Matthew threw us for a loop overnight, perhaps literally, as some of our computer guidance now shows Hurricane Matthew doing a large loop east of the Carolinas and Florida out over the open Atlantic Ocean waters into next week. (attached image)

So the official forecast track calls for Matthew to stay safely south of South Jersey this weekend, with the ONLY impact being large waves and rip currents, and that’s it, for now.

Theoretically, if the storm does do a large loop, the East Coast could theoretically have to contend with it again. But let’s see if it even loops first.

The East Coast of Florida up through the Carolinas will still have direct impacts from Matthew, depending on how close it comes to the coast. But in South Jersey, no impacts are expected other than waves. A few showers on Saturday will be from a cold front, not Matthew.”
